Prize of Family Hans-Peter Simons

Alix von Borries turns the tables

The two best riders from the previous day swapped places in the 2nd Classification for Young Riders. Today, Alix von Borries from the Rhineland triumphed ahead of the Dutch rider Yasmin Westerink.

For Alix von Borries and her nine-year-old Fürstenball OLD daughter Feingefühl, the name says it all. The 18-year-old presented her elegant dark bay mare with finesse and a great deal of feeling in the 2nd Young Riders classification. A ride in which everything went well. No wonder the young Rhinelander went into raptures immediately after the festive award ceremony in the festively decorated Albert-Vahle-Arena: “I couldn't be happier,” said the talented rider. “This is my first international event in this age group. And then to win straight away in front of this fantastic backdrop really leaves me speechless.” Behind Alix von Borries, who was awarded 70.980 percent by the jury, came Dutch rider Yasmin Westerink and Amphitryon OLD (69.951 %), a pair who prepared for the show in Aachen together with Head Coach Isabell Werth in the current year of the CHIO Aachen CAMPUS Programme of Excellence. Third-placed Jette de Jong from Belgium also knows how instructive training with the most successful dressage rider of all time and CHIO Aachen record winner is. The 20-year-old and her KWPN gelding Heavenly Charming took part in the 2023/2024 class of the CHIO Aachen Programme of Excellence.

Tomorrow, the race for the coveted sash of the indoor champion will be decided in the young riders' camp in the freestyle. And riding to music is something of a specialty for Alix von Borries and her Hanoverian mare. At the German Junior Championships this summer, the pair danced their way to an unchallenged gold medal in the junior camp. And not only that, at the European Junior Championships in Opglabbeek, Belgium, the 18-year-old added the bronze medal in the freestyle to her gold medal with the team. Tomorrow will be the freestyle premiere at advanced level, where the pair will dance through the arena to the sounds of the Swedish cult band ABBA. “New day, new luck,” said the young rider, looking ahead to tomorrow's decision. “I'm really looking forward to our freestyle and I'm excited to see how it goes down.”
